Building a Winning Team - The Modules

MODULE 1

Cascading objectives – in the real world

When you are running a business at 100mph it can be hard to find the time to articulate, let alone work out how to deploy, your core business objectives.  But unless you do this you will always be the bottleneck. We’ll help you develop a speedy method for capturing and crystallising your most important business (personal) objectives.  Then we’ll develop a focused approach for you to make sure you can deliver on deployment.

 

MODULE 2

Matching roles to goals

Businesses are like gardens, unless you regularly tend to them and make deliberate decisions they will grow/morph organically and randomly.  To deliver impactful change every role needs to serve a precise purpose in your strategic execution. We’ll help you with pragmatic, speedy thinking on how to really challenge what roles (not people) you need in your business both now and in the future, then develop a clear “people plan” that you can live by.

 

MODULE 3

Embedding high impact personal development

Annual appraisals commonly don’t have the impact that businesses require; they are such an ordeal that completing the process is seen as the end, not the beginning of a development plan – frustrating for all! In this module, we’ll introduce a tried and tested method for managing individual goal achievement on a quarter by quarter basis. Concentrating on long term progress through short term small victories.

MODULE 4

Defining and finding the real talent you need

Great progress, change and growth needs talent. You probably already know who your existing ‘talent’ is in your team (the real ‘gamechangers’), but most business owners can’t get the bandwidth to execute effective talent planning. We’ll show you how to talent grade your team against a really powerful model – building speedy individual strategies for each team member – the journey you need each of them to go on.

 

MODULE 5

Successful recruitment and induction

Recruitment is hard, we make the same mistakes again and again – so how can we land on a model where we avoid pitfalls of our own making and give our team members the best chance of success? In this module, we focus on the bible of recruitment mistakes, a proven method for high impact recruitment and linking more purposeful induction thinking to long-term success.

 

How the Academy courses work

Each Firestarter Academy course runs over a 5 week period, with 5 modules, group sessions with 6-10 people in each cohort and two 1:1 sessions for each delegate (1 hour for each session). We provide all course materials and you will have direct and ongoing access to your course tutor throughout the programme to support with exercises and questions.

The courses are specifically designed with small cohorts so that we can focus on practical and implementable learning, with NDAs established with all parties at the outset to encourage open conversation and sharing of real and relevant examples, not just theoretical and forgettable classroom content.

Each module consists of a structured 90 minute online session, with core content delivered to set an ethos and best practice for each subject. With a 50:50 ratio of lecture and practical activity, we encourage break outs in each module, with small group sessions to drive learning, experimentation and confidence.

All modules are designed to focus on ‘real life’ scenarios, with exercises that delegates can take away to implement in their day to day business lives. We also ensure that the module content is connected to individual 1:1 requirements, and provide in-module mentoring to assist with personal development.
